Christmas is coming and I am sure I am not the only one making a frantic dash to find as many presents as they can for their loved ones. Every single year I promise myself that I will start my shopping in September and every single year I start my shopping in mid-December – which is an absolute disaster when 90% of the people you are buying for is living in a different country. So, to make your life somewhat easier I have put together a gift guide for the foodie in your life. All of the items are available on Amazon, so if like me you are leaving it until the last minute, you can have everything posted directly to the receiver – and they gift wrap too!
I always assumed that chocolate making would be a laborious, fussy task. But it really isn’t! This amazing chocolate making kit from Indigo herbs takes the hassle out of making chocolate, meaning that anyone can do it in their own home. It is a beautiful gift to give the chocolate or food lover in your life. These kits are suitable for just about everyone as they are dairy and gluten free and produce the most amazing vegan-friendly chocolates. There are two sized kits, the small one is 300g and makes about 20 small chocolates with the larger kit weighing 750g and it yields approximately 45 small bars. You can buy directly from Indigo Herbs – here – or you can purchase from Amazon.
These beautiful chocolate chips are extra dark and the flavour is so intense with the most subtle hint of vanilla that they will make a great addition to the kitchen of any baker in your life. Or if you are anything like me, you have them in the cupboard ready to make chocolate chip cookies and end up eating them with a bottle of wine after a particularly rough parenting day!!
This beautiful cheeseboard would make a great addition to any home, especially the lover of the cheese. Constructed from sustainable and environmentally-friendly 100% bamboo wood, the board is framed by a groove to keep crumbs in check. A stilton knife, cheddar knife, hard cheese knife and cheese fork are included in the handily concealed drawer. I have used this board for serving cheese and it makes a great addition to any table.
I have been lusting after one of these cast iron casserole dishes – forever! The beauty of these casserole pots is that 1 – they last FOREVER if you care for them properly. Your children’s children will still be using them to cook for their children. 2 – they can be used in every scenario (grill/hob/oven) to cook just about any dish. The oval version is actually big enough to cook a leg of lamb in it and there is a great crusty bread recipe that I have seen on facebook that will suit this dish. Yes, it is expensive but when you think about the fact that you will have it forever, it is a great investment. I promise it will be the best gift your loved one will get this Christmas.
Being a foodie is an expensive business. There is always a new restaurant to try, a new recipe to cook and new products to buy. Sometimes you want to make savings without compromising quality and that isn’t always possible, but that is where Belmio comes in. Belmio is a touch of Belgian luxury at a fantastic price. The new range has 8 amazing blends which encompass all that coffee should be, aromatic, flavourful and full of culture. The pods are made from aluminium which ensures that the coffee inside is protected to the highest standard. Belmio pods are compatible with most Nespresso machines. Gifting this beautiful coffee will ensure that each day is filled with the best coffee that you can get.
The KitchenAid is a must-have in any budding chef’s kitchen. It is so versatile that it can help make anything from bread to meatballs and cakes to pasta. It comes with a range of attachments and 10 speeds to allow you to mix the most intricate and delicate ingredients. For me (and everyone else who loves cooking) the best feature of the KitchenAid is the fact that you can buy a range of attachments to allow it to become the one and only appliance you need in your kitchen. From meat grinders to pasta makers there is literally nothing you cannot do with it.
A few summers ago we enlisted the help of a local woman to mind Alex and Emma due to the fact that we were working so much. She was a school chef and was completely horrified by the cheap and cheerful knives we had for cooking. She would often cook us delicious Greek food and she eventually got so fed up with using our cheapo knives that she brought her own! And this is when my love affair with Victorinox knives began. I am going to be honest here and let you know that I haven’t the first iota of knowledge when it comes to knives, but I have used these and I own them and they make cooking such a pleasure. I know that when I pick them up there will be no issue with any food that I am cutting. I am certain that any foodie in your life would love having these in their kitchen.
I was doing my Christmas shopping a few weeks ago when I spotted this really great gift. The idea is that you create your own customed flavoured gin (with vodka, – who knew?!). You have to buy the vodka separately but it really seems like a great stocking filler for people who like artisan products and brewing their own drinks.
Not technically a food product but you could use it to drink your Belmio coffee if, like me, you need a vat of it to get through the day!
Disclosure: I received some of the items in this guide for review and inclusion purposes, however, I only recommend what I love and what I would buy with my own money. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
