This week has been stressful to say the least. Moving house is no fun but when you have to be out of your house last week (this is no exaggeration!) and you cannot find anything within your budget to house a family of 4, two dogs, a cat and two very large aquariums – well let’s just say that I have cried a lot these last few days. Thankfully we have signed a lease and will hopefully have finished the move by next weekend.
This week I am starting “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova. I have heard so many good reports about the book that when I came across it in my local bookshop, I snapped it up. We joined the local kids library in Larnaca this weekend and Alex and Emma picked out their very first library books. Top of their picks were “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?” by Bill Martin and Eric Carle and “The Enormous Crocodile” by Quentin Blake. We are in the process of moving so all their books are in the new house so we shall be reading these every day over the next week.
In recent months, I am watching very little television. I usually read for a little bit and then go to bed. Some nights I might watch 10 or 15 minutes of one of the shows I am trying to catch up on. unfortunately, I have a habit of falling asleep within a few minutes of starting to read or watch something, and this means it takes me weeks to finish whatever I am catching up on. Michael and I finished House last weekend so we haven’t been watching anything since. I turned on Netflix on Friday evening and saw “Santa Clarita Diet” and we started watching it. We are 5 episodes into it and I am not sure how we feel about it but we will be watching the next few minutes later on this week. I like that it is lighthearted and we do laugh when watching it. I needed a comedy after 7 months of watching House (which I absolutely loved!!).
I have kind of fallen in love with Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”, this week after seeing this video. Along with Castle on the Hill, this song has been on repeat pretty much nonstop all week. I may need to mix it up a bit next week as two of the women that I help out (who are well into their 80’s) are singing both songs nonstop!
Alex, Emma and I have been listening to the trolls soundtrack every morning and we are having dance parties to get ourselves ready for the day. Emma’s current favourite line is “come on baby, let’s go crazy”, which she is singing at the top of her lungs, everywhere we go!
We had my favourite meal earlier on this week. It is chicken and cashew nuts with rice. My mouth has actually started watering just thinking about it. I may actually do a blog post with the recipe as it is so so good and really helps with my constant Chinese food cravings. I made Lemon Curd this week in work and I hoping I will get a chance to make banana bread with Alex and Emma in the morning. The only other thing that we have “made” this week is a new house. Does moving from one house to another count as something I have made?!
Due to the move, I have spent the entire week in hole-y clothes or the new pj’s that mum brought with her last week. They are all from Primark and exceptionally comfortable. Any excuse to wear my pj’s!!!
I am not entirely sure if I mentioned that we are moving this week! Either way, we are moving house this week and I absolutely hate it. Unfortunately our current abode was sold in January and we have had a really hard time finding somewhere to live. We have been in this house three years and even though I am not overly attached to the house, I will be very sad to leave. This was where Emma came home from the hospital. Both Alex and Emma learned to walk here and we have so many memories. This week I have been really struggling with our inability to own our own house. Due to us being “foreigners” there are some ridiculous rules in place, which means getting a mortgage would be virtually impossible. I am sure once we are in our new home I wont be dwelling on it so much, but this week has been a little difficult. Hopefully the house will be presentable enough next week and I will be able to share some pictures. I am sure I feel an Ikea trip coming upon me!!!
