The Sunshine Blogger Quiz

I was tagged in this quiz by the lovely Kris from Max and Kai. Of course I am willing to take part in anything that has sunshine included and it is a great way for you to get to know me a bit better!

  1. If you could be a character in a TV series or movie who would you be?

My first thought was Mark Greene from ER. I have always wanted to be a doctor and he is a pretty cool doctor to be. Or maybe even House!

  1. Where do you see yourself (as a blogger) in 5 years from now?

I would love to have the dream of the blog being a source of income. I would love for it to be a source of comfort and amusement to others and above all to show that parenting is really mundane and boring and fun and crazy and far from perfect. I think the media and society gives us this idea of what parenting is but in reality it is far from idyllic. No one tells you that you will spend your days shouting ‘don’t forget to tuck your willy in’ and feeling like you are taking your life in your hands every time you sneeze!

  1. What is your favourite quote of all time?

I have two favourite quotes at the moment:

This too shall pass – for me this is a real parenting quote. No matter how bad things are, this too shall pass. It has saved my sanity many times.

If you are reading this you have survived your entire life up until this point. You have survived traumas, heartbreak, devastation, and the different phases of life and here you are – this quote is one that I came across recently. Sometimes we think what is happening us is the worst thing to have ever happened. It can be beneficial to take stock and realise that yes, I have survived plenty and much worse and this I will survive this too.

  1. Describe your morning routine?

Chaos. Complete and utter chaos. There really is no other way of describing it. Every morning I wish I had gotten things ready the night before but I never do! We are usually up at 6.30 and I get the kids and myself dressed. I have a quick look on social media and reply to messages. I give the kids breakfast and then we go to school and I go to work.

  1. If you could holiday anywhere in the world and money was no problem where would you go?

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to go on a road trip across America. It is the absolute dream to spend a few months traveling around with Michael and A&E and doing all the things on my American bucket list.

  1. If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

I am going to cheat and give two answers for this question. I would have dinner with my mum. She is very much alive but unfortunately I only see her for one week twice a year. Living in Cyprus is the best decision we ever made but unfortunately it comes at a cost and that cost is not being with mum. I would also have dinner with my Grandparents (mum’s parents) who have both passed away. I spent a lot of time with them when I was growing up and they were my favourite people in the world. My Grandad passed away when I was a teenager so he never saw me become a nurse or meet Alex and Emma. Nana passed away 15 months ago and she did meet Alex but unfortunately she had Alzheimer’s and won’t have remembered it. Maybe I would just have one dinner and have the 3 of them at it!!

  1. If you could live your life without fear, what would you do?

I don’t have a huge sense of fear and I don’t really allow things to hold me back. If I want to do something, I give it my best shot. If it works out, it works out, if it doesn’t, then at least I tried and wont regret it. I am terrified of flying and I do let that hold me back to a certain extent so I would definitely travel more if I wasn’t living with the fear of flying.

  1. Do you believe in the afterlife?

Yes. I worked in a nursing home as a student I often ‘saw’ people after they had passed away. On occasion I have seen my Grandad and Uncle and it was usually in situations that I needed someone to look after me. Do I think that the afterlife is the same as the life we are living now? No. But I do believe that there is something once we die.

  1. What draws you to blogging?

I like the idea of documenting our lives for us to look back on in years to come. This is something that I have always wanted to do, especially since Alex was born but I found it difficult to do it when I had 2 back to back pregnancies that were difficult. We now have some semblance of normality in our lives and I want to record our day-to-day life so I don’t forget anything.

  1. If you could have one do over in your life, what would it be?

I don’t think I would do anything differently. Every decision I have ever made has led me to the life that I have today and as a result there is nothing I would change. I think we would only ever do something differently if it had a bad or different outcome to what we were expecting and I believe we learn from these instances so even if I didn’t enjoy going through them, I would never have a do over.
